SMS Expiry Reminders – How They Work & Your Consent Settings

We now offer a one-time SMS reminder to help you avoid parking tickets and stay informed. It’s simple, compliant, and designed for clarity—just one helpful message per session, sent 15 minutes before your parking expires.

What You’ll Receive

  • A single SMS with your session confirmation and expiry time
  • A link to manage or extend your session (when available)
  • Delivered ~15 minutes before expiry, based on your session’s timezone

We do not send marketing messages—just one clear reminder when it matters.

How to Opt In

During checkout, simply check the box near your phone number:

☑ Receive a text reminder before your parking expires

This gives us legal consent (required under TCPA/CASL) to send you a one-time SMS for this session only.

When You’ll Be Asked Again

SMS consent is session-based. You’ll be asked each time you park. This means:

  • You control whether to receive SMS each time
  • Your choice doesn’t carry over automatically

This protects your privacy while ensuring control and transparency.

How to Opt Out

  • Uncheck the box before confirming your next session
  • Reply “STOP” to any SMS you receive

Replying STOP will prevent any future SMS until you re-consent during checkout.

Privacy & Data

  • Your number is used only for parking session reminders
  • We do not sell or share your data
  • Consent logs are securely stored per session ID
  • All messaging complies with TCPA (U.S.) and CASL (Canada)

How SMS Reminders Work in the Portal

1. SMS Enabled by Admin

Admins enable SMS reminders at the location, tenant, or event level.

2. Parker Opts In at Checkout

Parkers provide a valid mobile number and explicitly check the SMS consent box. Consent is stored per session and never assumed across visits.

3. Message Scheduled Automatically

The system schedules a single SMS ~15 minutes before expiry, based on the session’s timezone. No additional or fallback messages are sent.

4. SMS Sent on Time

The SMS is delivered within 2 minutes of the scheduled time. It includes expiry info, and a link to manage the session.

5. Delivery + Opt-Outs Managed by Vendor

Twilio handles delivery retries and opt-out logic. If a parker replies “STOP”, no further messages are sent unless they opt in again.

6. Reporting (Coming Soon)

Future updates will give admins visibility into SMS delivery, opt-in rates, and usage by location or cohort.
